Revach
Mordechai Revach and Rina (Regina) Leon, lived door-to-door on the second floor of a building at 16 Ah’Ayin Chet Street in Musrara. Mordechai made Aliyah solely in 1949 from the city Debdou, Morocco. In the same year he was recruited to serve in the War of Independence. When the war ended he received a room in the Musrara building. Rina and her family made Aliyah from Izmir, Turkey, and after a stay in the transit camps in Beer Yaakov and Talpiot, were given a two-room apartment in front of Mordechai's room. Mordechai and Rina were married in 1950, Moshe was born in 1951 and five years later Miriam was born.
Moshe remembers every lantern, street corner and balcony in Musrara of his childhood. In his interview, he talks about living in a crowded but respectable household, about a father who had difficulty finding work, traveled as far as Dimona to make a living and died at a young age. Moshe looks back at the path he took from childhood in Musrara to a career as an officer in the Navy, and later as an educator who always sought out himself as a child, among the students in his class.
