Ben Gigi
Eliyahu Ben Gigi grew up in Debdou, a village of Cohanim in north Morocco. Eliyahu married Esther from the Levi family of the town of Oujda in north Morocco, where their 3 childtren were born: Aliza, David and Avi. The father worked as a shoe-maker. The Ben Gigi family immigrated to Israel in 1949. After spending 3 months in the transit camp in Mareseilles they arrived in the Ma'abara in Pardes Hana. One year later they moved to the Musrara neighborhood in Jerusalem (18 Shivte Israel st). The father worked as a construction worker. In Israel they had 4 more children: Yossi, Shoshana, Yechiel and Shimon.
